KOTA KINABALU: In order to facilitate the more efficient distribution of subsidies and social aids from the government, the public is being urged to update their information on the upcoming national central database known as Padu.
According to the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living minister Datuk Armizan Ali, with the modifications to subsidies and their distribution, it is important for individuals to update their personal details to ensure that eligible individuals receive any available assistance while preventing ineligible individuals from receiving aid. This statement was made after a family event in Papar near Kota Kinabalu on Sunday (Dec 31).
Armizan mentioned that the information updated on this platform is secure and that no bank details will be linked to it.
He also stated that individuals will have the option to appeal for subsidies or aid through Padu in the future if they did not receive them initially.
“For the Ministry, we will make an effort to reach as many people as possible, particularly those in rural or remote areas in Sabah, to update their details,” he said.
“We want to ensure that those who are eligible for subsidies receive them, as well as those who are eligible for social aid,” he added.
When asked about the risk of the site being hacked, Armizan assured that the government is taking measures to prevent such an occurrence.
