JOHOR BARU: The Election Commission (EC) has announced that 34% of the 927 police officers and personnel have already cast their votes in the Pulai parliamentary by-election. This was confirmed in a statement released by the EC, stating that as of 10am, the early voting percentage for the Pulai by-election stood at 34%. In order to facilitate the early voting process, two early voting centers were opened at the Kempas police station in Kempas and the Marine Police Region II headquarters in Tampoi on Tuesday (Sept 5).
According to data from the EC, a total of 46 individuals will cast their ballots at the early voting center located at the Kempas police station operations room, while 881 individuals will do so at the marine police region II headquarters. The early voting center at the Kempas police station will remain open until noon, whereas the one at Wilayah Dua PPM will be closed at 5pm. It is worth noting that Pulai is one of two by-elections called in Johor following the death of Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, who was also the domestic trade and cost of living minister. The other by-election is for the Simpang Jeram state seat. However, it is important to mention that there will be no early voting for Simpang Jeram.
The EC has scheduled the polling for both seats on Saturday (Sept 9), following the end of the campaigning period on Sept 8 at 11.59pm.
