JOHOR BARU: Suhaizan Kaiat, the Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Pulai parliamentary by-election, is diversifying his campaign methods by going door-to-door to meet constituents. This strategy allows him and the party machinery to engage more closely with electors, especially on National Day, which is a public holiday. Suhaizan stated that he will go to residential areas in every polling district center along with the PH-BN machinery to garner support for his victory in the by-election. He believes that meeting people face-to-face makes him feel closer to the community and as they celebrate National Day, it enhances the patriotic spirit and unity among all races. This statement was made after his meeting with residents in the Taman Kempas Permai People’s Housing Project (PPR) on Thursday.
In celebration of National Day, the PPR resident association organized various activities. Suhaizan will be competing against Zulkifli Jaafar from Perikatan Nasiona and Samsudin Mohamad Fauzi, an Independent candidate, in a three-cornered fight for the Pulai parliamentary seat. The by-election was called following the death of the incumbent Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub on July 23 due to a brain haemorrhage. Salahuddin Ayub was also the incumbent Simpang Jeral Assemblyman and held the positions of Amanah deputy president and Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister. The Election Commission (EC) has scheduled polling day for both by-elections on September 9, with early voting on September 5.- Bernama
