Police in Johor Baru have granted a total of 226 permits for ceramah (political talks) and campaigning activities during the Pulai and Simpang Jeram by-elections. According to Supt Ibrahim Mat Som, the spokesman for the Johor police by-election, 46 permits were approved on Sept 2nd for both elections. From August 26th to September 2nd, the police have approved 226 permits out of the 235 applications received. Supt Ibrahim also stated that on the 2nd of September, 10 permits for ceramah and 21 permits for campaigning were approved in Pulai, while 14 permits for ceramah and one permit for campaigning were granted in Simpang Jeram.
The authorities have requested all political parties to ensure that their banners and campaign materials do not obstruct road signs, traffic lights, private properties, or prohibited roads. Supt Ibrahim has urged anyone with concerns to contact the nearest police station for assistance.
