KUALA LUMPUR: Putrajaya will facilitate the exchange of expertise and information between state governments to enhance the digital ecosystem and promote local businesses nationwide.

Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said several meetings had been held involving representatives from state governments to discuss relevant programmes.

“The federal government is open to input on how we can help state administrations improve aspects related to technology.

“These programmes can also be a platform for states to learn from each other.

“We are also receptive to having the local authorities and private sectors involved,” he said during a press conference after launching the Selangor Twin Accelerator Programme by Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Cooperation (Sidec) here on Tuesday (Sept 10).

The programme brought together 100 start-ups from technology and retail sectors for training from industry experts.

Separately, in his speech, Gobind said his ministry’s initiative namely the Gateway, Amplify, Invest and Nurture (GAIN) programme, had generated RM31.9bil in revenue and RM11.2bil in exports since its inception in 2017.

“GAIN has market access to over 26 nations, with the involvement from over 150 Malaysia technology companies.

“It has helped drive access programmes via matching and networking activities with global players,” he said.

On another matter, Gobind also said Selangor contributed RM406.7bil (25.9%) to Malaysia’s gross domestic product last year.

The state also generated RM769.9bil (29.2%) of the country’s total trade totalling RM2.637 trillion in 2023, he noted.

Also present Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, state investment, trade and mobility committee chairman Ng Sze Han, Sidec chief executive officer Yong Kai Ping and Affin Islamic Bank Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Paduka Syed Mashafuddin Syed Badarudin.
