The Perak Fire and Rescue Department director, Sayani Saidon, has revealed that the foreign worker who died at a quarry in Keramat Pulai had left the site initially but returned to collect his belongings. The victim, identified as 36-year-old Pakistani Sohail Sajjad, was with two other workers, using an excavator to clear the site when they were instructed to leave due to signs of rock movement. As they were leaving, Sohail returned to retrieve a personal item from the machine and the accident occurred during this time.

According to Sayani, the victim became trapped under the excavator and his body was finally recovered at 2:40pm. Despite interruptions caused by further rock movement, the body was successfully retrieved with the assistance of the Minerals and Geoscience Department and the police. Sohail sustained a serious head injury, and his body was sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
