In Kuala Lumpur on Thursday (March 28), Queen of Malaysia, Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, attended a bubur lambuk distribution event at Masjid Jamek Kampong Bharu. Her Majesty arrived at the mosque at 10:54am and had the chance to witness the preparation of the savory rice porridge and interact with the individuals involved in the ceremony.
After observing the cooking process, Raja Zarith Sofiah distributed bubur lambuk to 20 representatives of mosques from seven zones in the Federal Territory, as well as members of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). She then departed for the palace at 11:15am.
Starting as early as 7am, mosque staff, along with personnel from the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) and volunteers, worked together to prepare a total of 50 pots of bubur lambuk. The goal was to distribute about 12,500 packets of bubur lambuk to the mosque’s congregation members and the local community, emphasizing the mosque’s role as a place of worship and a hub for fostering goodwill during the holy month.
The event was organized by Jawi in partnership with the Istana Negara, Masjid Jamek Kampong Bharu, and Persatuan Anak Melayu Johor. Also in attendance were Jawi director Datuk Mohd Ajib Ismail, Federal Territory and Selangor Persatuan Anak Melayu Johor president Datuk Seri Dr Syed Hussein Al-Habshee, and Masjid Jamek Kampong Bharu chairman Datuk Mohd Khay Ibrahim. – Bernama
