KUALA LUMPUR: Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah attended the closing ceremony of the Olave Baden-Powell Society (OB-PS) Malaysia Conference 2023 here.

Tunku Azizah is the Royal Benefactor and organizing chairman of the conference, as well as the patron of the Girl Guides Association of Malaysia.

In her royal address, Her Majesty expressed her utmost appreciation for the hard work displayed by the deputy organizing chairman Datuk Seri Anne Eu in successfully managing the conference.

Her Majesty also expressed gratitude towards the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) for imparting important skills, discipline, and a sense of responsibility over the years.

“Thank you very much, WAGGGS, for my years with the Girl Guides. I always tell people that my current position is a direct result of my involvement with the Girl Guides.

“Thank you for teaching me about discipline, grooming, leadership, and for empowering us to voice the aspirations of our young girls,” Her Majesty said, while also looking forward to attending the 40th Jubilee of OB-PS in Copenhagen, Denmark next year in August.

The OB-PS supports the mission of WAGGGS by investing in the future leadership potential of young women, who are destined to lead their families, communities, countries, and the world.

The OB-PS conference, held annually, brings together members with shared interests to provide financial support to WAGGGS, ensuring a consistent source of income to fund its projects, programs, and services.

This year’s conference, hosted in Malaysia for the first time since 1998, aimed to celebrate and support WAGGGS, as well as discuss the growth and development of young women, empowering them to become future leaders of the world.
