KUALA LUMPUR: Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah expressed her happiness and pride after the international food guide website recently named “roti canai” as the best bread in the world. Roti canai is a beloved Malaysian food.
In a Facebook post by Istana Negara, Tunku Azizah also congratulated fellow Malaysians for their achievement. Roti canai surpassed India’s naan and Europe’s renowned pastries to claim the top spot.
The post also mentioned that roti canai is a favorite food of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah).
Last Sunday, TasteAtlas announced on their Instagram that Malaysian roti canai secured the first position on the Top 50 ‘Best Bread in the World’ list. It received the highest score of 4.9 out of 5.0 based on user reviews.
This is not the first time that TasteAtlas has recognized Malaysian roti canai. In July of this year, roti canai was named the best flatbread in the world. Additionally, in September of last year, it was awarded as the best street food internationally by the same website, as reported by Bernama.
