In Kuala Lipis, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, described being very nervous during his special appearance reading the news for the first time on Wednesday. This took place during a special slot on TV3’s Buletin Utama called Buletin Diraja, with the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah. His Majesty noted that this experience was even more difficult than giving speeches, and he attributed his nerves to the cold temperature in the news studio.

He shared these reflections at the proclamation ceremony of Lipis as National Geopark, which took place at the Sungai Relau National Park. In attendance were Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Deputy Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii.

The appearance of the King and Queen reading the news for almost 15 minutes was a first and came after they accepted a special invitation to present an exclusive news segment.

Al-Sultan Abdullah also reminisced about meeting a local resident during his visit to Lipis who had played football with him in his youth. The man shared his story of their game, which took place when the King greeted and mingled with local residents near the landing site for his helicopter.

“I was so touched when some villagers remembered that I used to play football here,” the King remarked. “I don’t remember much but I was reminded by a villager who admitted he tackled me that day. I was moved by the memory of the people here and I want to go back and bring my children here to play football.”
