Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli has issued a Q&A podcast challenge to a pro-Perikatan Nasional social media user who has been criticizing government policies on TikTok.
Rafizi, also PKR’s deputy president, stated that the country is facing threats from influential individuals spreading unfounded allegations on social media, particularly TikTok.
He mentioned that these individuals are spreading slander and lies, distorting the public’s understanding of various issues.
He also criticized Perikatan MPs for their inability to answer questions about the economic measures they have taken.
Rafizi expressed concern that misled social media users could face lawsuits for spreading false information.
He stated that politicians should engage in Q&A sessions to address these issues and urged the public to share their knowledge as well.
However, he emphasized that individuals should not hide behind digital identities to spread lies, and must be prepared to face legal action for doing so.
He also invited a pro-Perikatan Nasional social media user going by the name “YB Viral” for a podcast session titled “Yang Bakar Menteri” on Jan 8 next year.
In response, YB Viral posted a video on the X platform, suggesting that Rafizi should engage in a debate or podcast session with former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Hamdan.
He expressed his displeasure with Rafizi’s invitation and dismissed the idea of a podcast session.
