The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living plans to expand the Rahmah Sales Programme during Ramadan to 450 locations nationwide. This initiative is aimed at reducing the cost of living for the people and allowing them to purchase essential items at lower prices, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, the minister, the Ramadan Rahmah Sales Programme will offer discounts of 10% to 30% on daily necessities compared to their original retail prices. In addition to dry goods, the programme will include the sale of fresh produce such as chicken, beef, fish, seafood, rice, and eggs, as well as ingredients for making traditional Hari Raya snacks.
The launch of the Ramadan Rahmah sales will take place in Putrajaya and will commence on the first day of Ramadan. Armizan also mentioned that they are collaborating with the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) and the Federal Agricultural Marketing Board (Fama) to stock up on affordable fresh produce.
Each parliamentary constituency in the country will see at least two series of Rahmah sales conducted, with a total of 50 series planned for all 25 parliamentary constituencies in Sabah. For more information on the Ramadan Rahmah sales, interested individuals can visit the KPDN portal.
In addition to the sales programme, the ministry will also organize a Ramadan Bazaar programme, with further details to be announced at a later date. This initiative aims to provide additional opportunities for vendors and promote economic activity during the festive season. – Bernama
