KOTA KINABALU: Ten teenagers have been arrested by the police in connection with a viral video clip of a group of secondary school students bullying their schoolmates in the Ranau district, which is located about 120km from here, according to Ranau police deputy chief, Supt Simiun Lomudin. The initial investigations indicate that the incident took place after the victims were caught vaping in the school dormitory. On August 3, the incident occurred, and the video clip went viral on various social media platforms on Friday, September 1. Supt Simiun Lomudin stated on Saturday, September 2 that the group who assaulted the victims became upset as the incident caused troubles for other students residing at the hostel. Five boys were arrested on Friday, and the remaining five were apprehended on Saturday. The students involved in the incident are aged between 15 and 17 years old. The boys are currently held in police lock-up and will be released on bail once the investigations are completed. The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting and Section 506 for criminal intimidation.

A police report regarding the incident was lodged at 3.30pm on Friday. The five-minute video clip showcases at least four boys being slapped and punched by a group of boys surrounding them.
