PETALING JAYA: The investigation paper into the case where defamatory statements were allegedly made by social media personality Ratu Naga against Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, the Prime Minister’s wife, has been referred to the Attorney General’s Chambers.
“The police would like to stress that there had been no abuse of power and that the investigation was conducted professionally based on the procedures stated by law,” Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said on Wednesday (Nov 1).
He also said that Ratu Naga, whose real name is Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah, failed to cooperate during questioning on Monday (Oct 30).
He said this was in the context of providing computer data as stated in Section 116B of the Criminal Procedure Code and Section 249 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
“Under the law, police must be given access to computer data, including passcodes and encryption codes or any other means needed to understand such data,” he said.
Ratu Naga was giving her statement over one of her Instagram videos.
In the video, she shows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s social media page where he had shared a photo of the wives of United Nations leaders, one of whom is Dr Wan Azizah.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain told Bernama then that she had failed to answer the 33 questions investigators asked.
