The MYJalan application is now available for the public to report complaints about damaged roads, according to Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi. The application has been in use since last week, and it will be officially launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Thursday. Nanta Linggi made this announcement during a press conference after attending the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) Convention 2023 on Tuesday (Aug 22).
The MYJalan application serves as a one-stop centre for the public to report any road issues, including those related to roads that are not maintained by the Public Works Ministry.
Prior to this announcement, Nanta Linggi witnessed the signing ceremony of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between BEM and several universities. These MoUs will allow engineering graduates to register with the board upon completing their studies. Nanta Linggi expressed his support for this proactive move as it will prevent individuals from practicing engineering without proper registration.
Some of the universities involved in this initiative include Universiti Teknologi Mara, Universiti Malaya, Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur, Multimedia University, Universiti Tenaga Nasional, and International Islamic University Malaysia. The respective universities will assist their engineering graduates in the registration process with BEM. It is worth noting that the board registers approximately 14,000 graduates annually in the past five years.
As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, BEM will donate RM10,000 per university for five years to those that sign an MoU with the board. This donation will be given to outstanding engineering graduates during their convocation ceremony as the BEM President Award. – Bernama
