Penang police have received three reports regarding the vandalism of political party flags and poles during the state election campaign period. The reports were made between Saturday, July 29 and midnight on July 31. Media spokesman for the state polls, SAC W. Pusphanathan, stated that investigations have been initiated into the cases reported in the districts of Seberang Perai Tengah, Seberang Perai Utara, and Barat Daya. No arrests have been made at this time, and all cases are being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing mischief.

Since the start of the campaign period, Penang police have approved a total of 107 permits for political parties to hold ceramah, or political talks. Additionally, no permit applications have been rejected. Pusphanathan advised political parties to apply for permits earlier to prevent approval issues or conflicts with other parties regarding the location of their events.

Pusphanathan, who also heads the Penang Department for Crime Prevention and Community Safety, confirmed that no reports have been received so far concerning offenses that involve the sensitive 3R issues related to race, religion, and royalty.
