The Perak government is teaming up with the Information Department (Japen) to organize a series of contests with a total prize value of RM25,000 in conjunction with National Month.
These competitions are open to all residents of Perak and the closing date for entries is August 25th.
The director of Perak Japen, Mohd Rizal Hashim, stated that the aim of these contests is to enhance patriotism through creativity and knowledge, while also encouraging people to demonstrate their love for the country. The competitions include the Pertandingan Keceriaan Bulan Kebangsaan (National Month Cheerfulness Competition), Merdeka Tiktok Video Contest, Mobile Instagram Photo Contest, and Online Crossword.
In regards to the Keceriaan Bulan Kemerdekaan contest, Mohd Rizal explained that the objective is to strengthen patriotic spirit by showcasing creativity and innovation in flying the Jalur Gemilang (Malaysian flag).
The contests are categorized into three groups: secondary schools, primary schools, and government/private buildings. The winner of each category will receive RM3,000, the runner-up will be awarded RM2,000, and the third prize is RM1,000, along with plaques and certificates.
Regarding the Merdeka Tiktok competition, participants are required to create a creative video that lasts at least 30 seconds and showcases the spirit of independence using elements of the state’s culture, history, iconic buildings, or any other suitable theme. Prizes for this contest range from RM700 cash for the first-place winner to consolation prizes worth RM150.
The Mobile Instagram competition focuses on capturing significant moments of nationalism, natural beauty, and cultural heritage during National Month. Participants must use their smartphones to snap a photo with the Malaysian flag.
The top three winners will receive RM700, RM500, and RM300 respectively, and there will be five consolation prizes as well.
The Online Crossword competition will cover topics such as independence and the history of both the country and Perak. Additionally, participants must create a slogan that expresses the meaning of independence while incorporating the themes of “Malaysia Madani” and “Perak Sejahtera 2030.”
Winners will be selected based on the correctness of their answers and the catchiness of their slogans. The first prize is RM500, the second prize is RM300, the third prize is RM200, and there will be 10 consolation prizes worth RM100 each.
