IPOH: A group of resident apprehended two men who splashed red paint at a house in Taman Rima Gamelan in Bercham.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Azizi Mat Aris said the owner of the house had chased after the two men during the incident before catching them with the help of some members of the public on Wednesday (Sept 11) at about 1.10pm.

“Our investigation found that both suspects had thrown paint and pasted a notice at the house of a person whom they believed had failed to repay a loan shark.

“The homeowner realised their presence and chased after them,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Sept 12).

“One of the suspects, who was driving a car, lost control of the vehicle and crashed near Lebuh Bercham Timur,” he said.

“A scuffle broke out when the homeowner and some people tried to apprehend the two men. Both men sustained some light injuries and were apprehended before being handed over to the police,” he added.

Comm Azizi said the police found and seized four plastic packages containing red liquid, believed to be paint, and also 17 papers with details of the debtor who had failed to pay the loan sharks.

“We also seized from the suspects three mobile phones.

“The police have opened an investigation paper under Section 5(2) of the Moneylenders Act and Section 427 of the Penal Code for unlicensed moneylending and committing mischief,” he said.

“We want to advise the public not to get caught in the loan shark’s trap, especially for loans that are applied online.
