According to Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof, a senior citizen was the victim of a brutal beating, believed to be the result of road rage. The 73-year-old retired man suffered injuries including bruises to his left eye, swelling on his face and head, a fractured cheekbone, and orbital floor fracture as a result of the assault, which was reported to the police on Jan 30. “The victim alleged that he was beaten in front of a private clinic at Taman Tasik Puchong Prima in Putra Perdana,” said ACP Wan Kamarul Azran.
The victim was driving from Brickfields to Putra Perdana to meet a friend when another motorist began shouting at him, according to the victim’s report. “The suspect only managed to drive for about one kilometer before his car was blocked by the suspect’s vehicle, who then dragged him out.” ACP Wan Kamarul Azran said the suspect was then assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene. The victim was subsequently taken to the Serdang Hospital in an ambulance.
The alleged perpetrator, a 25-year-old businessman with prior records of gang robbery, causing public disturbance, and a drug offense, was arrested at around 5pm on Monday (Feb 5), ACP Wan Kamarul Azran said. The suspect has been remanded for four days to assist in the investigation, and those with information on the case have been urged to contact the Sepang police hotline at 03-8774 222.
