Approximately 100 participants in 31 vehicles took part in a drive aimed at promoting patriotism in Hulu Selangor.
The convoy was flagged off by Pakatan Harapan Hulu Selangor parliamentary coordinator Dr Sathia Prakash Nadarajan at Wisma Antara Gapi in Serendah at 8.30am.
Datuk Mohd Isa Abu Kasim, the Hulu Selangor Umno division chief, also attended the event.
Prior to starting their journey, the participants sang the state and national anthems and recited the Rukun Negara.
The convoy, which consisted of four-wheel drive vehicles, cars, and MPVs adorned with Malaysian flags, toured various locations including Ulu Yam Lama, Batang Kali, Kuala Kubu Baru, Hulu Bernam, Bukit Tagar, Bukit Beruntung, Bandar Sungai Buaya, Sungai Choh, and Serendah before returning to Antara Gapi at around 6pm.
At each stop, the participants distributed flags to the public.
Dr Sathia expressed his desire for the people of Hulu Selangor to experience the patriotic spirit.
“Many individuals find it challenging to travel to Shah Alam and Putrajaya for National Day events due to cost and time constraints,” he said.
“We wanted to contribute by bringing some joy to the people here.
“Additionally, we provided provisions to two individuals in need in Hulu Bernam,” he added. — By STUART MICHAEL
