The fifth week of the Dewan Rakyat sitting, beginning on Monday (Nov 6), will focus on the government’s plans for the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system on all highways. Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden (PN-Alor Setar) will raise questions about the Works Ministry’s efforts to enhance the toll payment system for a smoother experience for road users. The agenda, available on the Parliament’s website, also includes a question from Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (PH-Bandar Tun Razak) to the Human Resources Minister regarding skills mismatch and its impact on the nation’s ability to achieve higher income.
In addition, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah (PN-Indera Mahkota) will direct a question to the Economy Minister regarding the implementation status of the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint (MyDigital). Following the question and answer session, the Dewan Rakyat sitting will proceed with the debate on the Supply Bill 2024 at the committee level, after it received majority support during the policy level vote last Thursday.
According to the Parliament’s calendar, the debate on the bill at the committee level is scheduled to last for 12 days until Nov 27. The 2024 budget, titled ‘Economic Reforms, Empowering the People,’ was presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Oct 13 and involves an allocation of RM393.8bil, the highest budget ever presented in Malaysia.
The current session of the Dewan Rakyat, which commenced on Oct 9 and will run until Nov 30, will last a total of 32 days. – Bernama
