JOHOR BARU: Ling Tian Soon, the state health and environment committee chairman, announced that 30 government clinics in Johor will undergo an upgrade this year, with a budget of approximately RM14 million.

According to Ling, the state government has identified 30 health and village clinics that are currently in need of upgrading.

He further stated, “Last year, we allocated RM13 million to upgrading 29 health and village clinics in Johor. This year, an additional budget of about RM14 million from the Health Ministry will be used to upgrade 30 more health and village clinics.”

“We are currently in the process of identifying the clinics that require upgrades and obtaining further details about the necessary improvements,” he added.

These statements were made during a press conference that followed Ling’s attendance at the Harmoni Bersama (Together in Harmony) programme at Fo Guang Shan-Hsingma temple in Johor Baru.

Also present at the event was Johor unity, heritage and culture committee chairman K. Raven Kumar.

Ling dismissed claims from a viral video suggesting that the Batu Bakar village clinic in Johor Baru was in a state of disrepair and no longer operational. He clarified that the building shown in the video was the old quarters of the clinic, which is no longer in use. He assured that the clinic is still operational and has never closed its doors. Furthermore, the clinic has previously undergone upgrades.

Ling also indicated that the state Health Department will be submitting an application to the Health Ministry for the demolition of the old quarters and the construction of a new facility in its place.

Shifting his focus to other matters, Ling stated, “Following the reshuffling of the Johor state executive council, our attention should now be directed towards serving the people and dispelling any further speculation.”

“The reshuffle has been completed. It is time for us to move forward and concentrate on our work,” Ling emphasized.

Raven Kumar echoed similar sentiments, affirming that the state executive council will continue with the plans already in place.
