A budget of RM200,000 has been allocated by Segamat MP R Yuneswaran to upgrade the Jementah health clinic, which has been in operation for over 40 years. The funding will be used to create additional parking spaces and enhance the clinic’s exterior. According to Yuneswaran, the facility serves a population of between 10,000 and 15,000 individuals in Jementah and has not undergone any upgrades despite the expanding community. Addressing the lack of parking as the most urgent issue, Yuneswaran expressed hope that the problem would be resolved through the construction work that will commence soon.
One of the measures planned to alleviate the parking problem involves demolishing an old quarters building situated behind the clinic in order to construct a parking area capable of accommodating 60 vehicles. Currently, patients have no option but to park by the roadside due to the absence of parking space, causing concerns for their safety. Additionally, Yuneswaran disclosed plans to upgrade various facilities within the clinic, which at present only possesses two beds.
Yuneswaran intends to tap into the RM2 million allocation from the Segamat MP office to implement improvements across the constituency. This year, he has already directed a portion of the allocation towards mosques, schools, and several government buildings. Some of the projects are set to commence construction, while others are already underway. Among the initiatives is the allocation of RM288,940 for the Segamat police headquarters, aiming to upgrade the aging building by enhancing its toilets and other facilities, as well as refurbishing a club house.
