In Seri Kembangan, Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming announced that RM700,000 was given to local authorities across the country this year for small-scale infrastructure projects and upgrades, marking a 43% increase from the previous year’s allocation.
The funds were used for nearly 5,200 development projects, focusing on four main components: socioeconomic, public facilities, safety, and infrastructure.
Nga highlighted that this amount is the highest ever disbursed by the ministry, speaking during a visit to Pasar Bazar Rakyat MBSJ on Thursday (Dec 28).
Of the 5,200 projects, 3,941 were dedicated to infrastructure, which included drainage, roads, and flood retention ponds. Meanwhile, 749 projects were aimed at enhancing socioeconomic aspects, such as markets and food courts.
The remaining 509 projects were divided into 476 for public facilities such as community halls, and 33 for safety measures on slopes.
Subang Jaya deputy mayor Zulkurnain Che Ali was also present during Nga’s announcement.
