The Orang Asli community in Pos Bihai, Gua Musang, has reported that tigers have been frequently seen in their settlement area since June. A resident of Kampung Tendrik, Apek Asud, age 39, stated that they have found several tiger pawprints near the villagers’ houses, with the most recent discovery being on Friday. Apek Asud also shared that these wild animals roam around their village almost every night, leaving footprints in the house compounds. Additionally, a dog in the village was attacked and died as a result. Fearing for their safety, the villagers prefer to stay indoors at night and rely on group outings when they need to go into the forest.
The Temiar tribe people in the settlement are terrified to go outside for their daily activities due to the constant presence of the tigers. These tigers have been spotted roaming around for the past three months, and pawprints have been found in various areas of the settlement, including Kampung Tendrik, Kampung Sau, Kampung Hak, Kampung Badak, and Kampung Bihai Lama. In response to this issue, the village chief, Tendrik Alang Segan (age 50), has lodged a complaint with the Wildlife Protection and National Parks Department (Perhilitan).
He expressed his hope that the tigers can be captured and relocated. Galas assemblyman Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim has urged Perhilitan to take immediate action, emphasizing that residents are now afraid to leave their homes for work. He also pointed out that the tiger population in the area is quite high, and recent sightings have likely increased due to habitat degradation and destruction. Therefore, he called on all involved parties to take necessary measures to resolve the conflict between humans and wildlife.
