Robert Kuok has once again emerged as the richest Malaysian, with a staggering net worth of US$11.4 billion, according to the latest Forbes 2024 Billionaires List. At 100 years old, Kuok holds the top spot among his fellow Malaysians and is ranked at No. 176 globally. He is the sole Malaysian to make it into the top 200 list of billionaires, thanks to his ownership of the Kuok Group, which has diverse interests in hotels, real estate, and commodities.

Although Kuok remains at the helm of Malaysian wealth, his ranking has dipped from last year when he was positioned at No. 146 with a net worth of US$11.8 billion. Alongside Kuok, 14 other Malaysians have secured spots on the Forbes 2024 Billionaires List.

The second wealthiest Malaysian on the list is Tan Sri Quek Leng Chan from the Hong Leong Group, who is placed at No. 287 with a wealth of US$8.8 billion. Media and telecommunications mogul Tan Sri Ananda Krishnan follows at No. 624 with a fortune of US$4.9 billion. Press Metal Aluminium founder Tan Sri Koon Poh Keong is ranked at 871 on the list, boasting a net worth of US$3.7 billion.

Brothers Datuk Lee Yeow Chor and Lee Yeow Seng from the IOI Group have secured spots on the list as well, with a combined net worth of US$5.4 billion. Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay from the Genting Group also made it into the prestigious ranking with a fortune of US$2.3 billion.

Other notable individuals on the list include Australia-based investor Kie Chie Wong, who holds a US$2.2 billion fortune through his shareholdings in Fortescue Metals Group. Sunway Group’s Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah follows with a wealth of US$2 billion, while Hap Seng Consolidated’s Tan Sri Lau Cho Kun is valued at US$1.5 billion.

Furthermore, Lim Chai Hock, the chief operating officer and director of Bayan Resources – one of Indonesia’s largest coal producers, possesses a wealth of US$1.4 billion.

Overall, these individuals represent the diverse landscape of Malaysian wealth and business prowess, demonstrating the country’s growing influence in the global economy.
