Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek announced that a roundtable discussion will be conducted nationwide to gather input from stakeholders in the education sector, with the goal of enhancing the quality of national education.
Following the first “The Round Table Discussion: The Quality of National Education,” Fadhlina explained during a press conference in Putrajaya that the discussion was pivotal in obtaining perspectives to identify achievements, opportunities, and improvements in the national education sector. The event, held on Dec 11, was attended by 25 individuals, including education experts, academicians, industry players, and professionals.
Participants delved into topics related to the Malaysian Education Development Plan (PPPM) 2013-2025 and the report on the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2022, which was announced on Dec 5.
Fadhlina stated that the discussion will continue with more extensive and detailed talks. Issues raised during the initial discussion will be addressed in subsequent meetings.
Addressing the 2027 School Curriculum, Fadhlina revealed that it is among the agendas slated for inclusion in next year’s nationwide Education Tour series. She mentioned that the framework for the School Curriculum 2027 is ready, and the ministry is in the process of conducting a roadshow to discuss the matter at the grassroots level.
During a speech at the MoE 2027 School Curriculum professional talk on Dec 6, Fadhlina highlighted the incorporation of character education, basic literacy in reading, writing, and numeracy (3M), and integrated learning as new approaches by the ministry in the 2027 School Curriculum.
The 2027 School Curriculum is set to be implemented in stages, commencing with Year 1 and Form 1 in 2027, while preschool students will be introduced to it in 2026. – Bernama
