In Putrajaya, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah met with the widows and relatives of six members of the Royal Malaysia Police who were killed during Op Daulat on March 2013 in Kampung Simunul, Sabah.

This meeting took place at Dataran Pahlawan Negara on Monday (July 31) after a pantomime titled “Op Daulat Kampung Simunul” was performed in commemoration of the 2023 Warriors Day.

The six heroes who lost their lives during Op Daulat on March 2, 2013, were ACP Ibrahim Lebar, Sergeant Major Baharin Hamit, Sergeant Major Abd Azis Sarikon, Corporal Mohd Azrul Tukiran, Sergeant Salam Togiran, and DSP Michael Padel. They belonged to the Special Branch, General Operations Force of the Sabah police contingent headquarters, and the Semporna district police headquarters.

The pantomime deeply moved Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah, as they were seen in tears while watching the performance. Afterward, they came down from the main stage to meet the widows and relatives of the fallen heroes. The emotional atmosphere was intensified by the song “Kali Terakhir Ku Lihat Wajahmu” (The Last Time I Saw Your Face), sung by renowned singer Uji Rashid, playing in the background.

In addition to their presence and support, Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah also provided contributions to the widows and relatives of the fallen heroes. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, were also in attendance.

The heart-wrenching pantomime performance was produced by Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali and brought to life by 150 police personnel from Vat 69 Commando Unit, Air Operations Unit, and the General Operations Unit.

The invasion of Kampung Tanduo began on Feb 12, 2013, with over 200 Sulu terrorists claiming to be members of the Royal Sulu Force (RSF). This invasion took place in stages from Simunul Island, Sibutu Island, and Sipakkut Island in the southern Philippines. The climax of the conflict occurred on March 1, 2013, during a shootout between the security forces and the RSF in Tanduo. The conflict was finally declared over on April 10, 2013.

During the meeting, Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah also pledged a donation to the widows and heirs of PDRM members. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail were in attendance as well. – Bernama
