KOTA KINABALU: A 60-year-old man in Sabah’s east coast Tawau district was arrested by police, who also seized two home-made rifles from his home at Kampung Kuala Merotai. This operation was conducted by the Sabah Criminal Investigation Department (CID) special investigation (D9) unit following a tip-off at 12.05pm on Thursday (Jan 11).
According to Sabah CID chief Senior Asst Comm Azmi Abd Rahim, three bullets were also seized during the operation. The suspect claimed that he had acquired the firearms from a man from Lawas (district in Sarawak) but could not remember the name and face.
Further investigations are being carried out under Section 8(a) of the Firearms Act 1960, including efforts to track down the individual who sold the firearms to the suspect, said SAC Azmi.
