KOTA KINABALU: Sabah DAP chairman Datuk Frankie Poon has filed a police report regarding a social media post he claims is false and aimed at damaging his reputation.
Poon highlighted that the post, circulating on platforms like TikTok, made untrue allegations about certain communities and misrepresented his values and his role as the Tanjong Papat assemblyman and state DAP chief.
“Let me be clear that the post was not created, endorsed, or approved by me, nor does it reflect my stance or that of the DAP and Pakatan Harapan,” he stated on Saturday (Oct 26).
He suspected that irresponsible individuals are behind the content, attempting to spread fabricated statements for divisive purposes.
“I condemn this act of defamation, which serves no purpose other than to create discord and tarnish reputations.
“As an elected representative, I am committed to serving all communities in Sabah with respect and unity.
“This divisive rhetoric contradicts everything I stand for and my dedication to advancing the shared progress of all Sabahans,” Poon added.
He urged the public to verify information before sharing it online.
“I trust the authorities to investigate and address this matter with due diligence,” he said.
