KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Government is donating RM300,000 to the Palestine Peace Fund, while another RM355,000 has been collected from various agencies and organisations in the state to help the cause.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor (pic) announced the donation during a humanitarian gathering for Palestine at the Wisma Muis on Saturday (Oct 28).

He said Sabah supported the move by Palestine to fight for their freedom of land and peace from war.

“This gathering here today is also a show of our solidarity and support for peace and love for harmony,” he said.

Hajiji said all acts of cruelty towards mankind must be condemned, and the whole world must unite to condemn the oppressors.

“We want the United Nations (UN) to take action and stop the Palestine-Israel conflict,” he said.

“We ask the United Nations to do something to stop the cruelty that is happening in Gaza. Thousands of people, including women, children and the elderly, are bombed,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said the action from Hamas in retaliating was purely for their people, who have been tortured in many ways and for their land that has been intruded for decades.

To this, he said the people of Sabah, regardless of their race and religion, are one in this matter and sympathise with all the victims of these attacks happening currently.

He said the people of Sabah may not be able to help in the conflict, but they can provide support in other ways.

The Chief Minister said what is happening in Gaza right now must also be taken as a lesson for all Sabahans to unite and stand stronger as Malaysians so that the peace and harmony enjoyed in this country can be preserved.

“We are lucky because, as Malaysians, although we live amongst people of various races and religions, we are still able to enjoy peace and harmony together, and we hope this can be preserved forever,” he added.
