KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Christina Liew, the state Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, stated that Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Pakatan Harapan are working well together in the governing coalition.
Liew made the comments in response to questions about GRS and Pakatan’s alignment for the state polls. She emphasized that they are working together for the benefit of the people and that they are functioning smoothly as a team.
The Sabah Pakatan chairman also mentioned that her focus for the year was to complete the planned development projects in her constituency and other areas where tourism hotspots are located.
Her response comes after Upko, a component of Pakatan, pushed for GRS to take a new approach in political cooperation, including sharing of seats in the upcoming state election.
She added that this year will be busy and they are currently working on the ground to achieve their targets.
Speaking about GRS deputy secretary-general Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali’s suggestion for the GRS-Pakatan pact to continue in the next state polls, Liew commended it as a “good suggestion.” She also expressed the usefulness of working as a team to implement activities and projects that concern the local community.
Liew also attended the Sabah Art Gallery’s 40th anniversary at the gallery premises and launched the Jilin-Sabah International Children and Youth Online Art Exhibition.
Upko president Datuk Ewon Benedick has urged for GRS to be more inclusive in its political cooperation and for its close working relations to be reflected in appointments at the grassroots level.
