The state of Sabah has set aside RM56.75mil for the development of non-Muslim religious bodies, mission schools, private and vernacular schools in 2024. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor hopes this allocation will assist in covering their operational costs and other needs, emphasizing the government’s commitment to caring for the welfare of all citizens regardless of race or religion in a fair and just manner.

Compared to this year’s RM54.05mil allocation, Hajiji explained at the Anglican Christmas Open House on December 30th that the funding for 2024 has slightly increased.

In Hajiji’s address, delivered by his assistant minister Datuk Abidin Madingkir, he emphasized the state government’s recognition of the significance of every festival and celebration for the unity of people in Sabah.

He also highlighted the importance of promoting unity within the multi-ethnic and multi-racial community, praising the Christmas celebration as an indication of the federal and state government’s care for the people and their strong focus on unity and harmony.

Hajiji stressed the government’s commitment to prioritizing agendas that promote unity, stating that a united community allows for peace and harmony, and is crucial for attracting foreign investments, therefore contributing to stable politics and economic growth.

Hajiji warned against the potential consequences of internal conflict, particularly concerning religious issues, pointing out the detrimental impact it has on economic and social development, leading to war and disruption.

He underlined the importance of maintaining peace and harmony in the nation, and the government’s determination to prevent any form of conflict, particularly over religious matters.
