Datuk V. Jothi, the president of Sabah Indian Chamber of Commerce, expressed gratitude for the state government’s commitment to looking after the Indian and Hindu community in Sabah, despite being a minority in the state. He mentioned that the government has always ensured that the community is included in development plans and even joins in their Deepavali celebrations annually.
Jothi highlighted the importance of celebrations in bringing people of different races together and emphasized the need to preserve the unity in diversity, particularly in Sabah. He also mentioned plans to hold more cultural events with the state government and other partners to further strengthen relations among communities.
The Sabah Indian Chamber of Commerce president urged the people of Sabah to continue celebrating each other’s festivals together to maintain peace and unity in the state.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor also emphasized the significance of festivities like Deepavali in bringing people of all races and religions together. He stressed that such celebrations play a crucial role in keeping communities strong and should be safeguarded and upheld.
