TONGOD: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), along with the state’s Pakatan Harapan (PH), is confident that good cooperation with its component parties, particularly the Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat), will lead to success in the next state election. Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, Sabah Chief Minister and Gagasan Rakyat President, expressed this confidence, attributing it to the increasing acceptance and support from the people towards Gagasan Rakyat as a component party within the GRS coalition. He urged Gagasan Rakyat leaders to organize the party machinery and ensure its strength before the State Legislative Assembly is dissolved. Hajiji believes that with the party’s growing branches and divisions across Sabah, combined with cooperation from GRS and Pakatan, they will achieve success in the upcoming election. He made these remarks during the launch of the Kuamut Gagasan Rakyat division and the division’s annual meeting at Dataran Rakyat Tongod hall on September 23.

While Gagasan Rakyat enjoys strong support from the people in Sabah, Hajiji emphasizes the need for cooperation with their allies to effectively govern and develop the state. The party, which was established to fulfill the aspirations of Sabahans, boasts a membership of nearly 300,000 individuals and 73 divisions throughout the state. Hajiji clarifies that although they want to prioritize local parties like in Sarawak, it doesn’t mean they reject collaboration with national parties. GRS consists of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR), Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP), United Sabah National Organisation (Usno), Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (PHRS), and Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).

In a separate ceremony, Hajiji distributed 421 native land grants covering 790.37 hectares of land to residents from 15 villages in Tongod. He stated that 343 of these grants were granted through the Sabah Native Land Services Programme, while the remaining 78 were obtained through the regular land application process. – Bernama
