KOTA KINABALU: Internet users have been cautioned about making inflammatory remarks, particularly concerning issues related to royalty, religion, and race (3R).
Datuk Fairuz Renddan, Sabah Assistant Youth and Sports Minister, stated that action will be taken against individuals who purposefully disrupt the peace in Sabah.
“We are not prohibiting anyone from using social media. You are free to share anything, but refrain from discussing 3R matters as it may lead to tension. Be a responsible social media user.”
“If you manage to evade detection, consider yourself fortunate. However, luck will eventually run out and repercussions will follow for your actions. You will be forever known as the person who disturbed the peace,” remarked the Parti Gagasan Sabah youth chief in a statement on Saturday (April 6).
Fairuz urged the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to monitor social media platforms and promptly address individuals who fuel racial and religious tensions, as well as those who ridicule the Malaysian royalty.
“We must put a stop to such behavior before it escalates. These actions are like viruses that can easily influence people’s thoughts. I have even come across comments that could potentially create divides between East and West Malaysians,” he added.
