The state of Sabah and its people are fortunate to be visited by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah through the ongoing Kembara Kenali Borneo tour.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor expressed that the tour holds a significant meaning for the locals as they have the opportunity to see the King, Queen, and the rest of the royal entourage up close.

Hajiji mentioned during the state government dinner reception in Kota Kinabalu that some individuals even got to engage in conversations with them at various locations visited by the convoy.

“The people deeply appreciate the King and Queen’s willingness to drive by themselves and traverse the Pan Borneo Highway from Tawau to Kota Kinabalu. Tomorrow, they will continue the tour to Sipitang before heading to Sarawak,” Hajiji said.

During the reception, Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and his wife Toh Puan Norlidah RM Jasni, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, and state legislative assembly speaker Datuk Seri Kadzim M Yahya were also present.

Hajiji took advantage of the event to inform the King that Sabah’s state trade has reached a historical high, rising to RM118.1 billion in 2022 compared to RM87.2 billion the previous year.

“In line with this progress, the state government has attracted investments worth over RM33 billion to Sabah, despite only leading the state for three years.

The state’s revenue collection has also hit a record high at RM7 billion,” he added.
