KOTA KINABALU: Sabah marine police seized liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders and cooking oil packets worth RM380,093.50 during a raid in Kampung Tambalugu, Tuaran on Thursday (Oct 10).

Responding to a tip-off, the team confiscated 8,600 litres of petrol and diesel, 366 LPG cylinders, and 355 one-kilogram packets of cooking oil in the 8.30am raid.

“Further inspection uncovered a lorry carrying 32 additional blue drums, as well as the 355 packets of cooking oil,” said Kota Kinabalu Marine Police operations commander, Asst Supt Roslee Abd Rahman in a statement.

A 48-year-old man was arrested during the operation for failing to produce the necessary permits, including a premises permit and a gas storage permit from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living.

“The premises also lacked safety measures required by the Fire and Rescue Services Department,” he added.

The case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961 and the Fire Services Act 1988.
