PETALING JAYA: A Muda leader has expressed disagreement with party president Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman’s decision to label DAP as a “lapdog” of Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Sabah Muda chairman Amos Thien believes it is unfair to attach such a label to DAP, as every party has its bad apples. He personally knows some DAP leaders in Sabah who are good leaders.
Thien said, “Sorry president, I have to disagree with name-calling. I personally know some DAP leaders, especially in Sabah, and they are good leaders. Every party has their bad apples with extreme views, including Muda, and we are working on it. But to lump up DAP as a lapdog is just wrong in my book,” said Thien on X on Thursday (Sept 7).
On Thursday (Sept 7), Syed Saddiq accused DAP of being a “lapdog” of Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who was recently granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA).
According to Syed Saddiq, it was DAP vice-chairman Nga Kor Ming who previously accused Ahmad Zahid of corruption.
Syed Saddiq further mentioned that Muda would reevaluate its position in the unity government after Ahmad Zahid was granted the DNAA on Tuesday (Sept 5).
On Sept 7, Nga stated that Syed Saddiq should have refrained from expressing discontent publicly since Muda is part of the unity government.
The High Court granted Ahmad Zahid a DNAA for all 47 graft charges involving Yayasan Akalbudi funds on Monday (Sept 4).
