KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno has ordered its party machinery state-wide to update its membership lists for each polling district, says Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.
“This should include identifying voters and they should also form special working committees at each polling district.
“They must be prepared to mobilise as soon as the state election is called,” the Sabah Umno chairman said on Thursday (Sept 12).
Bung said that the 17th Sabah Election could be held any time soon although it is not due until September 2025.
“We are satisfied with our preparations at grassroots level so far but we need to further fine-tune and improve it,” Bung said, adding that the Sabah Umno committee had discussed the matter at a meeting on Monday (Sept 9).
However, Bung did not elaborate on his Facebook post on working relations with Pakatan Harapan for the state polls.
He said that Umno divisions, together with all state party wings, were also told to implement programmes at grassroots level while also identifying issues faced by the people.
Sabah Umno also expressed its support and solidarity with the imprisoned Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
The state committee cut a cake after the meeting that was given by Najib’s family.
