Residents are hoping that the recent improvements made along Jalan Segambut Dalam will help in reducing the number of accidents that occur there. Several LED street lamps, 10 flashing amber lights, three speed breakers, and rumble strips have been installed along the road to alert motorists of dangerous turns. Additionally, three more road humps have been constructed. Budihardi Sabei, the chairman of the Segambut Residents’ Representative Council (MPP), stated that he has received numerous complaints regarding the poorly lit road. He further added that the stretch between Jalan 1/61 and Jalan 6/38j, at the Jalan Segambut Dalam junction, has been dark for several years. Motorists tend to speed on this road, which is especially dangerous at the turning points between the two junctions. With the new street lamps, Budihardi hopes that accidents will be significantly reduced and urges motorists to exercise caution, particularly at night.
On May 10, two motorcyclists, aged 19 and 20, tragically lost their lives in a head-on collision along Jalan Segambut Dalam. As a response to this incident, Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh raised concerns about road safety to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL). In response to her concerns, personnel from DBKL’s engineering and drainage departments, as well as the urban transportation department, visited the site multiple times. As a result, road safety works, carried out by DBKL and Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), were completed in mid-July. Yeoh’s political secretary, Yap Yee Vonne, expressed her gratitude to DBKL and TNB for their prompt action in improving the road safety features along Jalan Segambut Dalam. She emphasized that this road is a crucial route that many people use to access Kepong and Mont Kiara. With the additional safety measures in place, Yap hopes that motorists will exercise caution and reduce their speed while using this road.
