GURUN: In an effort to shed light on allegations of the theft of rare earth in Kampung Chong, Sik, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail (pic) has urged Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to provide clarification regarding a compound letter worth RM500,000 that was allegedly issued to the Chairman of the Kedah Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI). The letter in question, dated October 4th of last year, was apparently signed by Kedah Director of Lands and Mines Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mustaffa, announced the Pakatan Harapan secretary-general.
Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail further stated that he wants to know if Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, who holds the positions of Mentri Besar and Chairman of MBI, received the aforementioned letter from Datuk Fauzi Mustaffa last year. The letter reportedly demanded that MBI pay a fine of RM500,000 for the alleged offense of rare earth theft in Kampung Chong, Sik. These statements were made by the Home Minister during his speech at the Kedah Unity machinery launch event in Guar Chempedak on Saturday (July 15) night.
The launch event was attended by prominent figures such as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also the president of Umno, and Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu. This news was reported by Bernama.
