ALOR SETAR: Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub (pic) has undergone a four-hour surgery for a brain haemorrhage and is now under post-surgery supervision.
Salahuddin is currently unconscious due to intubations but is in stable condition, according to doctors treating him at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah in Alor Setar.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail informed reporters that Salahuddin’s progress is being monitored by two specialist doctors.
After visiting Salahuddin at the hospital, Saifuddin stated, “According to the doctors, his vital signs such as blood pressure, oxygen level, and heart rate are positive and under control.”
Kedah state police chief Comm Datuk Fisol Salleh accompanied Saifuddin during the visit.
Salahuddin’s wife and children were also visited by Saifuddin, who informed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim about Salahuddin’s condition and conveyed the Prime Minister’s regards to the family.
Saifuddin emphasized that Salahuddin’s family should be given the opportunity and space to deal with the current situation and urged everyone to pray for his full recovery.
The Minister was brought to the hospital on Friday at 10.15pm after experiencing nausea and vomiting.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, and Amanah President Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu sent their well wishes and prayers for Salahuddin’s swift recovery.
