KOTA BARU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pic) has announced that several fixed remunerations for civil servants, including teachers, will be introduced in the coming weeks.
In his capacity as Finance Minister, Anwar stated that he will chair the first management meeting on the salary scheme adjustment next week.
“I believe it is necessary to revamp the old approach to the salary adjustment scheme. Please await the announcement which will include some adjustments within the next one or two weeks,” he commented.
Anwar made these remarks while attending the Cakna Madani Programme with education services officers at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Health Campus near Kubang Kerian on Sunday (July 23). The event was also attended by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.
In a previous statement made on July 13, Anwar had mentioned that a proposal would be put forward to improve the civil service salary scheme gradually based on the country’s economic capabilities. He highlighted that this matter would be discussed in a meeting with Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and Public Service Department director-general Datuk Dr Zulkapli Mohamad before the state elections on Aug 12. – Bernama
