In Sandakan, the district Health office has issued a warning for people to seek immediate medical attention if they experience symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pains, and headaches. This warning comes after an ammonia gas leak occurred at an ice factory at Mile 3 around 10am on Friday (Nov 10), prompting the alert to be sent out via the Sandakan Municipal Council district disaster committee WhatsApp group chat.

The message emphasized that individuals living close to the site of the incident who exhibit symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pains, headaches, eye or throat pain, and skin irritation must seek medical treatment as soon as possible.

Thirteen workers were affected by the ammonia gas leak and had to be transported to the hospital for various health issues. One person was reported to be in serious condition, while the others experienced problems like skin irritation, eye pain, and difficulty breathing.
