PETALING JAYA: Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has hit back against his critics, refuting claims that he insulted Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

In response to the allegations, Sanusi criticized Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, urging him not to manipulate the situation. Additionally, he called on Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to repent and step down from politics for falsely accusing him of insulting the wisdom of Selangor Sultan.

Sanusi clarified that he made no derogatory remarks against the Selangor Sultan, emphasizing that his words were taken out of context.

These statements come after Pakatan Harapan lodged police reports against Muhammad Sanusi in Shah Alam on July 13, accusing him of insulting the Selangor Ruler.

Ahmad Zahid, on July 13, urged Sanusi to repent and refrain from using any means necessary to further his campaign.

“I would also like to inform Amirudin not to twist my words, as he gains nothing by doing so,” Sanusi added.

“In my speech, I was discussing the historical significance of the Kedah sultanate in their resistance against the British during the Penang separation issue. I did not make any reference to His Highness Sultan Selangor.”

“My political rivalry in these state elections is with Pakatan and Barisan Nasional, coincidentally leading to exchanges of words with the Selangor Mentri Besar,” Sanusi explained.

He continued, “If he wishes to degrade and insult me in public, claiming he will teach me how to develop Kedah, I am capable of responding in kind.

“In fact, the state has been developing for several decades, even before he assumed the role of Mentri Besar in the 1970s.”

Sanusi disputed Amirudin’s assertion that he played a crucial role in Selangor’s development, attributing it to the proximity of the capital city Kuala Lumpur, rather than the efforts of the Selangor Mentri Besar.

During a recent event in Selangor, Sanusi allegedly criticized the Sultan of Selangor for appointing Amirudin as the Mentri Besar.
