Selangor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) deputy director (operations) Maritime Commander Mohd Sharenliza Ghazali has identified the man as Peligres Jaime Langusta, a 57-year-old Filipino citizen. He explained that the victim and another crew member were assigned to lower the pilot ladder and receive the mooring rope from a nearby boat when the incident occurred. Commander Mohd Sharenliza stated on Wednesday (Aug 30) that the crew of the nearby boat attempted to help by throwing a lifebuoy and life jackets to the victim, but he was unable to grab hold of them. Despite further efforts by the crew to rescue him, the victim was swept away by the storm and strong wind.
