A Bangladeshi ship worker is currently missing after falling into the sea at Tanjung Pelepas Port (PTP) close to Gelang Patah.

Mohd Khairi Zainuddin, the Fire station chief of Iskandar Puteri, mentioned that an emergency call was received at 11.12am on Tuesday, October 3.

A total of 24 firefighters from the Iskandar Puteri and Skudai stations were immediately dispatched to carry out a search and rescue operation in the area where the victim was last seen.

Mohd Khairi stated that the victim, known as Miah Md Ujjal, had fallen from a height of 6.09m while working aboard a ship. This information was provided in a statement released on Wednesday, October 4.

The search and rescue operation covered a radius of 25m around the ship. However, it had to be temporarily suspended at 3.15pm due to strong winds and rough sea conditions that posed a potential risk to the team.

Mohd Khairi further added that the operation resumed at 6.18pm. It was then halted for the night and resumed once again at 10am on Wednesday.
