Sarawak lawmakers are urging the people of Sarawak to stand up against hate and violence in light of the recent firebombing of a KK Super Mart outlet in Kuching.
Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii expressed shock at the incident, especially in a city known for its unity and harmony among people of different backgrounds.
Yii emphasized the importance of protecting the fragile unity and harmony in Sarawak and called on Sarawakians to take a stand against acts of hate to prevent them from becoming normalized.
He urged everyone to work towards de-escalating the situation and promoting understanding and respect among all individuals.

Yii emphasized the need to address the root causes of such incidents and ensure that those responsible face legal consequences for their actions.
Senator Abun Sui Anyit echoed Yii’s sentiments, expressing shock at the firebombing incident in Jalan Satok and emphasizing that it goes against Sarawak’s culture of harmony.
Abun called on the public to cooperate with authorities in identifying and apprehending the perpetrators of the attack to uphold the peace and unity of Sarawak.
Kuching police chief Asst Comm Ahsmon Bajah confirmed reports of the incident, stating that a Molotov cocktail had been thrown at the store, causing boxes of beverages to catch fire.
This incident marked the third firebombing targeting a KK Super Mart outlet in Malaysia, following similar attacks in Kuantan and Bidor in recent days.
