The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah will be served local delicacies, including the seasonal dabai or “Sarawak olive,” during his visit to the Central Market in Sibu.
Sibu Municipal Council chairman Clarence Ting announced that His Majesty’s light breakfast menu will also include pulut panggang (grilled glutinous rice rolls) and kampua noodles.
Ting shared during the council’s full board meeting in Sibu that the King will be transported in a golf cart from his hotel to the market on September 12.
“We have prepared five golf carts for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and his entourage to the Central Market,” Ting added. The purpose of the visit is for His Majesty to tour the market, specifically to see the ayam bungkus (chicken wrapped in newspaper), and engage in a meal with the locals.
The Kembara Kenali Borneo tour, which includes the Sarawak leg, will be embarked upon by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah. The tour is scheduled to take place from September 7 to 13.
The royal couple is expected to arrive in Sibu from Bintulu on September 11, where their first stop will be at the Yu Lung Tian En Si Temple. This will be followed by a community dinner at Malay Union Club Hall.
